Engaged!

As the title of this blog would let you believe...we got engaged this weekend!

Liz and I went down to Austin this weekend to visit our friends Marc and Aimee and their son Harrison. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to propose, since we had a really fun, romantic weekend there when we first started dating.

About two weeks ago, I ordered the ring, which is a really cool, antique ring that we found at a vintage clothing store in Austin the first time we hung out there. It's been killing me to keep it a secret, even for two weeks, but I managed.
The setting: A cool little brunch joint called Cisco's, which we also ate at during that same weekend. I called ahead to get the same table that we sat at the first time, although when we got there, there were two dudes sitting there, so we sat at the adjacent table. Once those guys left, I insisted that we switch tables, but I was nervous that Liz would think something was up. Turns out she already knew what was about to happen (she had seen the ring box in my pocket when we walked into the restaurant).
Anyway, as I nervously scarffed down my food and stumbled over my speech, Liz's eyes started to get bigger and bigger and her giggling got more and more intense. Still fumbling through my words, Liz says, "here, let me help you out" as she extended her hand out in my general direction. I then dropped to one knee and popped the question....finally.
Liz was so excited about the ring, she forgot to answer the question! But a few moments later she gave me a resounding "Maybe!"......
.....No, just kidding. She said yes, and then gushed over the ring some more.

So there you have it! We're gittin' hitched! Although we still don't know when yet.

We'll keep you posted.

Pregnancy updates

Well...Liz is still pregnant, so that's good news. Things seemed a little dicey in the beginning, but smoothed out in the last couple of weeks....as far as the baby's potential health is concerned. Liz on the other hand....well, that's another story.
I think our baby is some sort of human incarnation of Barney from the Simpsons because I've never heard belches like the ones Liz is producing. I really feel bad. It honestly looks (and sounds) like it physically hurts. Preggy pops ain't got nothin' on our baby's gas and poor Liz is taking the brunt of it. Amazingly enough, through all the gas, nausea, headaches, stomache aches, bad dreams, etc., etc. etc., Liz still manages to laugh, make me laugh, and have a positive attitude overall. Oh, and she's pretty cute too. God bless her....I love her.

Early observations on pregnant women:
They are scary.....but pretty damn cool.

We know it's early in our relationship and yes we had planned to go on many adventures and blog about them before we had kids, but then we said, "screw it, let's go on the biggest adventure of all time!" And I'm sure this will beget a lot of blogging as this adventure rolls on.
